RMCH SAIL DAYS
About
RMCH Sail Days started with a vision to help young people in the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital escape the hospital walls and enjoy a day sailing where they can be free to enjoy something new and gain new skills as well as taking part in an activity that improves mental and physical wellbeing.
Each young person has varying medical needs, specially adapted boats are used which ensure the safety of the young people with instructors close by. For those who are wheelchair bound and cannot be transferred, a Wheelyboat is used where the wheelchair can be transferred onto the Wheelyboat which in turn means a young person can learn to drive the powerboat with an instructor present.
The Royal Yachting Association kindly funded the first 3 years of the sail days however I'm now looking for the next 3 years of funding which totals £4500. This total includes 2 full days of sailing for 20 young people with a meal included.
